Course to improve intercultural competence

Each course covers 7 days including ca. 35 course-lessons

 

 

While visiting different cultural sights and different places in the Republic of Ireland/Northern Ireland, learning about companies or institutions and – if possible – a college/school, participants will improve intercultural knowledge about culture and education. Our main focus will be on culture and history, literature and film, but also on (vocational) education, thus vocational teachers or those dealing with entrepreneurship might be specially interested. Other interested teachers are invited to participate as well. Additionally we will try to give ideas about tools and establishing projects.

 

Objectives:

 

- Experience different places of interest in and around Dublin, and either Galway and the West or

  Belfast and Derry/Londonderry (if still Erasmus+ funded)

 

- Examine different approaches and methods, e.g. cooperative learning that help to develop materials for classroom use (e.g. special sights, novels and films) and classroom tools

 

- Learn about vocational education

 

- Learn about European projects and project management, e.g. etwinning

 

 

Languages: English and German

 

 

The final programme with information about accommodation and places to be visited depends on the number of participants and will be published to registered participants at least 2-3 months before departure. It is planned to stay in Dublin and Donegal/Galway or Derry and another place (depending on programme) for 1-2 days each. Bus or equivalent transport facilities will be organised.

 

Course fee: 7 x € 80 = € 560 + € 30 for administration, cost-field projects/tickets/cultural activities 

 

+ accommodation, twin-bedded and 4 x half-board (organized by Teachers on the Move), bus = ca. € 144 per person per day.
